St. John is a short 25 min ferry ride from St. Thomas via ferry or can be accessed by the car barge on a 35-45 min trip. Guests traveling to us from the continental United States can fly to St. Thomas (airport code STT) direct from many east coast cities like Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, Newark and Boston on Jet Blue, American Airlines, Delta or US Air. Upon arriving taxis can be taken to the people ferry leaving every hour on the hour from Red Hook. Guests will need to rent a car and can do so from the St. Thomas airport through major auto rental providers and take the car barge or rent a car from one of our excellent providers on St. John. A list of agencies can be provided once the booking process has begun.

Island Activities


Guided Reef Bay Hike:
Difficulty Level 7 of 10 Over a three mile hike down the hillside through the National Park to the petroglyphs and past the waterfalls during wet season, this hike can be led by a Park Ranger on M, W, F from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM. $15-20 and includes taxi to top of trail and boat ride back to Cruz Bay. Call for reservations. (You can do the hike on your own but will have to hike back to the top).

Ram's Head Hike:
Difficulty Level 5 of 10 Climb to the top of Ram's Head from sea level which starts at Drunk Bay next to Salt Pond on the South Side of the island. The hike takes about 1 hour round trip but the view is worth every drop of effort.

Solomon Beach Hike:
Difficulty Level 3 of 10 Start off from the National Park Main Office following the wooden steps to the top of the hill. Continue up the dirt road to the trailhead on the right following signs to the beach. This is a fun family hike to an often private beach that is only accessible via boat or on foot. It takes about 25 mins total.

Sport Fishing:
Catch Wahoo, Tuna, Mackerel and King Fish seasonally. Ranging between $125-$250/person.

Day Sails:
Take a group or private sail for the day, half day or sunset. Costs range between $65-$150 per person.

Kekoa Black Sail Catamaran Charters:
This is our family favorite for group trips whether it be a private charter or you are joining a public trip, Kekoa has the best in all the amenities and service. This large catamaran holds up to 60 people and is a beautifully hand made wood boat that has the most enjoyable crew and environment. We love setting off on a Kekoa adventure. Wayward Sailor:
Head out for a private day sail for up to 6 people with Captain Phil Chaulker and enjoy the stories acquired over decades of calling the caribbean home. It's a beautiful day for a sail.

British Virgin Islands Boat Trips & The Baths

Born to Rhumb:
Enjoy a private day trip with up to 12 guests aboard this refurbished antique. It's a smooth day with Captain Andi or Captain Shane Valentine at the helm. You can plan a perfect island hopping day and get some recommendations of what not to miss. We love this day trip and make sure we squeeze one in every few months. It's always a blast. Big Blue Power Boat:
Join Captains Mindy and Bernd for a personalized trip around St. John or to the BVIs. Its a great boat for 6 people or speak with Captain Mindy about their 12 person capacity excursions. This is a highlight for any visitor to the islands, being on the water is a huge part of why we love being in the Caribbean and their team will help you see and do all there is to offer.

Ferries to BVIs:
BVI Day Trips: Take the people ferry over to Tortola, Jost or Virgin Gorda for the day or rent your own boat. Ferry prices vary and can cost between $25-$120 per person. It takes about 45 mins to Road Town. Ferries leave from downtown Cruz Bay near the National Park Dock.
